Biography

Neeshad Shafi is an environmentalist, speaker and founder of the Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar (AYCMQ).

Having studied engineering, Neeshad holds a degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering and is currently based in Doha. Shafi actively attends and contributes to many national, regional and international conferences and conventions for the United Nations and other international organisations like United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), World Economic Forum Middle East 2019, UN Youth Climate Summit in 2019 in New York and many more.

Speech Synopsis

We’re extremely honoured to host Neeshad Shafi – his speech will focus and discuss the priorities, challenges, and solutions that Arab and youth in the Gulf face in the current climate. Shafi will also elaborate on how youth in this region can join together and advocate for climate awareness and action and how his organisation and movement (AYCMQ) can provide a space for young people in the SWANA region to express their demands and solutions to the regional climate struggles and link a bridge with youth from around the world to support, express, and amplify the impact of climate change and demand action.
